*The auburn haired vampire Armand feels a strong power that ultimately leads him to this castle within the woods. He looks up at it, entranced, and not knowing why. With his youthful teenage angelic looks he almost seems to be a little boy lost as he steps through the castle's doors. Many here would no doubt know or sense that he is far from as innocent as he appears*

Typist: Armand is from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles.

The pull was something that Lestat had felt too, though he made no mention of this to Armand. He watched the other vampire closely, thoughtfully, and then lowered his eyes and put down the book again. His hand rose and he made a slight, welcoming gesture. "I have no answers to give you, dear Armand." He lifted his eyes to the other vampire and the teasing smile returned, though his tone had softened considerably. "Do not be offended. Come, sit with me."

He sighs and does sit by Lestat. "I am not offended. I am.... confused. I do not know how I arrived here or even where this is. How can this be?"

The hand that had lifted fell back on the arm of the couch and Lestat shrugged listlessly. The fact that he didn't know why they were there made him care even less about finding answers. His own lack of knowledge irritated him.

Once Armand was sitting, Lestat unceremoniously shifted forward where he was lounging so that his feet were now on the arm of Armand's chair. "I am sure we will find out soon. Aren't you eager for a little mystery in your life, Armand?"

He looks from Lestat's feet to his face again. "I've had quite enough of mysteries for now, Lestat." He's still suspecting that Lestat was the cause of all this. When was it ever not something to do with the Brat Prince?

The answer didn't exactly surprise him, but Lestat frowned a little and poked Armand's arm with the toe of one of his shoes. "You're no fun." Not that Lestat would call a dark, dank castle fun, but watching everyone arrive was proving to be interesting. It also helped to get his mind off of Nicholas, who was... somewhere. Lestat briefly considered mentioning him to Armand, but thought better of it and his eyes only narrowed just slightly.

He utters a short laugh at that. "When was I ever.. 'fun' as you put it, Lestat? You may like adventures but I will remain cautious of this place until I find out more."

"I beg to differ, Armand. You can be fun." Even though this was said with a smile, there was a slight edge to Lestat's voice that had not been there before. He took his feet down from Armand's chair and leaned over to him instead, inspecting him carefully.

For a moment or two Lestat was actually quiet, but when he spoke again his voice was still normal, even light, though somewhat abrupt. "Nicholas is here, you know." He said this almost challengingly, still watching Armand for a reaction.

He does tense very slightly but otherwise remains impassive. His voice is very controlled as he speaks, "Is he?"

If he was at all bothered by his response -- or lack thereof -- Lestat did not show it. He looked closely at Armand and then shrugged, but his gaze did not shift from his face. He spoke again, his voice just as careful and calm as it has been. "Did you lie to me, Armand?" There was no other explanation he had for Nicholas' sudden appearance, although he'd never considered the possibility before.
ademonicangel on May 31st, 2007 07:03 am (UTC)
"Lie about what, Lestat?" He questions tiredly, seeming to not want to talk about this and avoiding straight answers.

The lack of answers only seemed to put Lestat more on edge, though he still did not show it but to watch Armand a little more steadily and a little less nicely. "You know what I am asking. Did you lie to me about what happened to Nicholas?"
ademonicangel on May 31st, 2007 07:16 am (UTC)
After a long moment in which he looks a little pained, he answers. "No. Must we speak about this? It was so long ago."

The look on Armand's face made Lestat pause, and even though he continued to study him, the glint of anger began to fade. Lestat sighed and leaned back from Armand, his hand lowering to trace the arm of the couch in a casual, unthinking gesture. He was still frowning, but it was more to himself and in a thoughtful way... not at all directed towards the other vampire.

When he spoke again his voice was softer, but distant. "I do not ask you this to hurt you. It is only that I can't think of another explanation..." Lestat trailed while something seemed to occur to him and his frown deepened, his hand clenching into a fist. He started to speak, but then cut himself off and just shook his head with obvious agitation.

"Of why he is here? That I cannot explain."

He's looked away from Lestat, in his own thoughts, which he's not opening up to Lestat. Evrything was just bewildering him here. It didn't make sense.
